Diwali is one of the most famous and joyous festivals of India. It is known as the festival of lights. It celebrates the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile and his victory over Ravana. On this occasion, people clean and decorate their houses with clay lamps, candles, and colorful rangolis. People wear new clothes, exchange sweets and gifts with friends and relatives, and offer prayers to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha for wealth and prosperity. Children enjoy burning firecrackers. Diwali spreads the message of the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

(a) Benaras was extremely important to Bismillah Khan because it was the place where he spent his early years and learned the art of playing the Shehnai. He loved Benaras so much that he refused all offers to settle abroad, considering Benaras and the Ganga irreplaceable.
